"Chocolate" Blood Pythons

P0 "Chocolate" Progression:

The origins of the "Chocolate" bloods are a P0 female I hand picked at an import facility. At first I thought she would prove out as axanthic/anery given her gray coloration. At she aged her coloration darkened. First I paired her with a T+ Albino Batik from tomato X cherry bomb lines, with the intention to add as much red as possible to her genetics to widen contrast between any F2 "Axanthic" and non-"axanthic" offspring.

F1 2017 Clutch:

Although not as extreme as the P0 dam, many of the F1 2017 clutch colored up with beautiful dark gray and chocolate coloration.

F2 2024 Clutch:

In 2024 I bred a reddish F1 offspring back to the P0 Dam expecting 1/2 "Axanthic" gray offspring and 1/2 non-"Axanthic" reddish offspring. Instead the whole clutch appeared as high-contrast gray and brown offspring with yellow highlights. Not simple recessive axanthism. Given the appearance of the F1 offspring and F2 offspring I am treating this as a line-bred look of animal rather than a simple Mendelian trait for now. The goal of the project is dark, saturated, and contrasting colors and to have fun with a direction no one else is working in. These are some beautiful animals.
